Yard Sale

If like me you are always looking for ways to raise that little more cash, never under estimate the power of holding your own yard sale.
eBay and the like are perfect for those smaller collectables but when it comes to looking around the house for all your larger sized unused items, then a yard sale is ideal.
Use your computer to design an attractive poster to display your sale details, print plenty out and distribute around your home area.
Visitors will come, neighbors can be so noisy and will love the chance to pick through your belongings! But you and your handful of cash can have the last laugh!
Do not price anything, use your sales pitch. Get as high a price as you think the buyer is interested. Be prepared to reduce the first suggested cost, everyone loves a bargain. Believe in your goods, no matter how old you know they are. One's man's rubbish is another man's treasure and there's a collector for everything.
Off you go, hunt in that attic, clear that garage. You'll be so surprised at what you can find.
And always remember, have fun....

Photography for Profit

Calling all budding photographers:

Have you ever thought of selling your photos for profit.

Publishers are always looking for photographs of Babies, Children, Pets, Animals, Sports, Landscapes, Seascapes, Weather........ The list is endless. If you are regularly using your camera, you probably have the kind of shots they need.

Think of all the newspapers, magazines & the media out there, including the Internet, just think how many pictures are required during one week, let alone a year!

I do not today actually have a site to recommend, I asked around but several of my friends told me of too many different places to list here. So I suggest you do what I did, carry out a Google search for stock photo's. There is a huge market and demand for this type of work.

Try it out, if you have any success or comments please leave a reply. Everyone would love to hear your findings.

Good Luck

Amazon

Have you ever thought of selling items on
They are not just for books, they sell CD's, DVD, Games and much more.
This is not an auction site like eBay, you set the price you wish to sell your item for and they display it alongside the new product.
Payments are safe, everything is handled through Amazon.
List your goods on their Marketplace, they display, when sold they email you the buyers details, you post item to buyer and your payment is safe in your account, less any sellers fees.
Simple, easy, you can't lose, another way to make money.

Extra Survey Site

I keep remembering survey sites for you to check out and this one I should not have forgotten.....Why.....Because they pay very nicely in Cash. Always worthwhile.

http://www.itsyourview.com

They pay £1.00 for every 5 minutes of your time.

My experience with them is that their surveys are not long, I do not know about you but sometimes you do not always want 3/4 surveys in your inbox at 25-30 minutes a time!!

I have found on average each survey is about £3. Your account soon adds up.

Why not register and see what you think.

Writing for Marketplace at Helium

I decided to return to the topic of Helium again today.
In July of this year they opened up a marketplace where publishers and editors can advertise for articles that they wish to purchase.
By following the publishers guidelines you can submit an article to meet their requirements.
For those writers who are selected you can earn a fee of between $16 - $100 (or more for some!)
If your article is not chosen by the publisher it does of course remain on your profile where it continues to earn revenue as long as it is active.

Translation work

Today we feature something a little more specialized.
Online translation work.
A friend gave me a call today, she had heard about my new site and since she is working as an online translator, suggested I should include a couple of sites that may interest anyone out there looking for this type of work.

http://www.proz.com & http://translatorscafe.com

Both of these sites are Directories of Professional Translation Services

I have to be honest and say that I do not know anything about online language translation work, but if you are looking for work in this field, please check them out.
I would appreciate any comments you may have or if anyone out there knows of any other sites that may be of interest to other people, please get in touch.

They also offer telephone survey work from their Marketers & Researchers, where you can remain anonymous and earn .20p per minute.

Keep smiling,
Any comments or queries on this posting or any other please get in touch with me.

(Part 2) eBay as a Business

Welcome back fellow eBayers

Now you are bonafide eBay sellers and obviously you are happy with your work and now interested in taking the next step. Read On...

Part 2 eBay as a Business

The first thing you must do is accept that this is going to be a business, a serious business.
The beauty of eBay is that you can continue with your normal account while building your business, once orders and sales grow then you can consider opening an eBay shop and hopefully gaining eBay power seller status.
Now stock, do you have something in mind or starting from scratch? No longer will your local car boot sale be able to supply you with the amount of stock or profits that you intend to make.
I would still visit at the weekends though, low price treasures can always be found, just learn to keep an open eye.
There are many eBayers who make a living buying from eBay to sell on eBay! Sounds incredible I know.
Unfortunately for some people they have no idea of the value of their item and many a bargain has been sold for the minimum price set. Keep an eye on ‘items ending soon’
Another way to cash in is to check on misspellings, take any items you are interested in re-selling and carry out a search using all the variations of spelling you can think of.
Camra, mobil fone, comuter games, jewelry, u laugh, weight un till u c a phew!!
Books particularly 1st edition can command high prices, keep an eye out for sales that appear in the wrong places. However do not become involved in any bidding wars unless you know the market.

Check out ‘wholesale and job lots’, in all categories many a sale has included items which are worth more on their own.
Some sellers even start their own house clearance business and sell the stock on eBay. If that is a little too much like hard labour, try to find some friendly dealers in your local area, offering to take some of their stock.
With experience and time you will start to discover what sells on eBay. Keep a close eye on other sellers.
Avoid buying too much stock to start with, buy and sell as you go along.
Learn the tricks like when you find an old magazine full of vintage advertisements. Maximise your profits, sell the pages separately.

So I wish you good luck in your business venture, I’ve sold on eBay for many years now and there is nothing to replace the thrill that you get watching a bidding war on your item.

eBay as a Hobby (Part 1)

Another source of income that can be run easily from home is as a seller on eBay. As a marketplace eBay is a wonderful opportunity for anybody to sell goods for profit, quickly and easily.

Over the next two days I will guide you through the process of selling on eBay.

In Part 1 I will show you how to use eBay as a hobby

In Part 2 I will guide you towards operating eBay as a business

Part 1

* The first thing we must assume is that you have an eBay account, if not sign up, it’s very easy, plus you will need a PayPal account. Buyers like to use the protection offered by PayPal, so an account here is a necessity.
* I am also going to assume that you have a digital camera; again buyers like to see a photo of the item listed. It proves you have the goods offered for sale, plus the picture can show the condition, style, colour etc.
* So all accounts opened, camera at the ready, let’s sell.
* First search through your house, attic or garden, all those unwanted gifts or items packed away. Choose something easy to photograph and simple to post to the buyer.
* Take your item into a well lit room and try to photograph as close as your camera will allow without any blurry images. Remember to check any background, stand your item on a sheet to improve the appearance.
* Transfer the picture to a file on your computer.
* Next is to write a description of your item.
* The headline needs to be informative but interesting, grab the buyer’s attention.
* Your item description must be accurate and honest, if there is a mark or dent declare it. The last thing you want is for your buyer to return the goods.
* Research prices on eBay for similar items and start as low as you can, a low starting price will always encourage bidding.
* Weigh your item to work out postal costs do not forget to allow for packaging materials, you can add a small amount to cover all costs.
* EBay has a very clear and easy site to use, log in to sell your item and follow the instructions.
* One final click and your goods are up for auction, now for the fun part. Sit back and hopefully watch the bids roll in. Do not despair if interest seems low there is a lot of last minute activity on eBay.
* Once the auction is over, send your buyer an email thanking them for purchasing your item. Collect payment, post out parcel as soon as buyer has paid. The important thing to remember now is you are looking for positive feedback. Feedback is the life and blood of eBay, so do all you can to keep your buyer happy.

And there you have it, you are an eBay seller. Congratulations.

Now is the time to start selling using the same techniques for all those items you found in the house. It is amazing how much of value we have stashed away in boxes. A good clear out from time to time never did hurt anybody.

So you enjoyed making all that money did you? You can continue and use eBay as a hobby. Search out items at low low prices in places such as car boot sales, flea markets, jumble sales. However only buy what you are knowledgeable about and always remember you will have to recoup the price paid + seller fees + paypal fees and then comes your profits.

But the bargains are there, go on search, sell, retire early!! But have fun!

Return please for Part 2 tomorrow....

Mystery Shopping

Okay forgive me, for Mystery Shopping you don't actually have to go out with a bag over your head!
Can't help wondering, how bad was her hairdresser?
For today's subject I admit it's not really a 'at home' position as such, although these days you do need a computer as your reports are sent direct to the company via the Internet.
But for those of you who are working at home life can be a little tough stuck in doors every day, so the chance to escape and get paid to go shopping can be a real bonus to you.
Lets be honest though the job itself isn't easy, first you have to get rid of the guilty feeling every time you make a negative comment about a shop or their staff. One of the most important aspects is that you must be honest in all you report and if the shop is dirty or the staff are rude, then it is your job to note this down.
Usually you are asked to buy a particular item and in most cases they require that you 'pretend' not to find said item so that you can speak to the staff. The first few shopping trips can be quite an ordeal for you but this gets better with practise. There is so much to observe and you must train your memory to hold all information until you can record the details somewhere safely.
I was a mystery shopper for three years and grew to love the work. It doesn't just stop with shops, I used to dine in restaurants , open bank accounts, stay overnight in bed and breakfasts & hotels, take test drives in new cars.
I apologise now because on every posting I have given a link, however I happen to know that the company I worked for is not recruiting at the moment. But if you do a Google search you will find several companies out there. Do not under any circumstances sign up with anyone who is asking for a fee up front, there are plenty of companies who pay you. I have also been told that there are some sites who are giving away the bonus as payment i.e. the meal in a restaurant, do not accept this either. Any work you carry out you must expect to be paid for, plus travelling expenses. Take a look around and discover who is offering what positions.
As a job based from home it is suited to all age groups, although I don't recommended going shopping if you have young children in tow.
But as I say on this site I am going to try and show you all the work out there for people to complete at home. Good luck.

Writing Articles

Welcome Back
Today I thought I would spend a few minutes talking about writing articles for those sites that offer cash back rewards.
Probably the most well known is http://www.helium.com take a look. There are questions and topics on every subject imaginable. From Pop to Politics. If you want to raise a new issue, put in a request.
Browse through their content and pick a category that interests you, write an article and submit on site. Other writers will then rate your work (as you will rate theirs) there is something quite satisfying in watching your work rise up the ratings.
As people view your article, readers click on the ads displayed on each page. Here is how you can earn money.
Your article can keep on earning money for you all the time it is active, so even if you take a break from submitting work to them, the earnings keep increasing.
It does take a little while to see your balance grow. Try to set yourself a goal of writing so many articles a week, the more active articles you have on there, the more you can earn.
In their marketplace they list all the publishers who are looking for articles written on particular subjects, payment here varies but can be quite lucrative.
So the secret to Helium is to submit as often as you can, get your active article count up, the earnings will follow automatically.
They pay direct to PayPal with a minimum payout of $25.
Although I have concentrated here on Helium, there are other article sites out there. The requirements tend to be very different and I will be devoting a couple of postings to article writing for profit.
So to get you started why not try Helium, it really can be quite addictive, watch out!

Getting Paid To Read Emails

Hello again,
I hope that those of you who were interested in doing survey work took a look at my posting for yesterday, well worth signing up for those.
Today I thought I would explain how another easy money making site operates.
Now this is NOT a 'get-rich quick' scheme.
Quite simply after enrolment you would be sent emails, all you have to do is read the email, then delete it. You get paid, that easy.
The downside is, it can take some time to make the minimum payment.
I signed up for free at http://www.mutualpoints.com , without any hassles it did take me a year though to earn a £20. check. But with no real work involved, I just clicked away. We all get so much junk mail anyway, a couple more a day doesn't really make any difference.
There are several of these sites around, I suppose if you wanted to you could make a career just clicking on emails 24/7!! Do a search on Google, have a look.
I personally feel that at the end of each month if you look at all the places you can earn money it does add up. Okay so some do not pay very much at all, but as I say over time the checks come in.

Survey Work

Hi,

Today I thought it would be a good idea to start with survey work. There are plenty of companies out there who will pay you for your opinion.

Avoid the fee paying lists that you see around and ignore the claims that you can earn high money per hour.

I will list here the top survey companies I personally recommend with information and contact link. They are all free to join, try signing up you can always cancel out afterwards. At least survey work is very easy to do, there are no right or wrong answers, just your views. And the extra money helps too!

Ciao (see button link at top of page) recognised by most to be the top of all survey companies, high payers and they pay direct to your bank account once your earnings reach £5.00 or more.

http://www.lightspeedpanel.com/ Market research company. They credit your account immediately following the survey. You can choose to take your earnings in PayPal cash from £1. upwards or save your points.

yougov - very interesting site, their surveys are more towards current news events and company brands. Min. payout £50. Does sound a lot, I'll admit this one takes a little longer to earn your check but the bigger payout is worth the wait.
TestandVote (see button at top) The wonderful part of this company is that apart from survey work you can also register to test products. If selected you keep the product. Okay I will admit to you I have done this but so far have not yet been in a position to keep anything very exciting! They pay in vouchers, I always choose HMV.
http://www.globaltestmarket.com Views and opinions on everything. Plenty of work, they pay once your account has reached 1,000 points which equals $50 or your local currency. Check mailed in the post. I find they offer me a lot of work and I have received many payouts from them.
http://www.valuedopinions.co.uk Various survey work, very easy, payment targets quickly reached. They pay by shopping vouchers Min. payout £10. You can choose from a selection of high street retailers.
I hope you found some of this interesting, as I say check them out.
Any questions please leave a comment.
Have fun and always smile....

My Introduction

Hi,
You have found my new blog, I hope you can find some answers here.
If your piggy bank looks anything like mine then you too like me are looking for ways to earn some extra money from home.
I started this new blog to help people through the maze of online jobs and scams out there. I will share with you the methods I've tried - guide you through those that work and warn against the one's that don't.
Please return daily, I am well used to posting daily blog entries, I have been writing blogs for some time now, especially one on raising a puppy, check it out at: http://puppies-diary.blogspot.com
so you will see I can be trusted to stick around for some time to come.
I also run a website which is dedicated to earning an income from writing at home, so if you have an interest in writing, you'll find that one at: http://www.lucymaywriter.com
However this blog is to give advice for all general money making jobs out there. The one's that are free to join, easy to work at on the internet at home and the most important fact of all: The one's who pay. Believe me I have worked for a few and spent more time and money chasing them for payment than what I earned in the first place!
To start you off I recommend cashcrate, they are totally free to join. They pay you for joining free survey site companies, trying products. There is nothing at all for you to pay out and they pay you every month by cheque (minimum payout is only $10!) Check them out, you have nothing to lose=> http://www.cashcrate.com/311706
More tips to follow
Nice to meet you all, please any comments do get in touch I would love to hear your views,
